The Living Room Project Calvary Chapel West Jacksonville began in a “living room” with just four familes committed to studying God’s Word, praying together, and enjoying times of fellowship. Here we are several years later still committed to studying, praying and fellowship. The only difference is the Lord has added more families and now we need a larger “living room.”

Calvary Chapel West Jacksonville was birthed on a promise God spoke through his word to Pastor Allen where the Lord said, “…Furthermore I tell you that the Lord will build you a house” (1 Chronicles 17:10). This promise is a reminder that the building of the church is God’s work. Now we know that the church is not a building but a people. Peter referred to the people of the church as “living stones, are being built up a spiritual house” (1 Peter 2:5). The church therefore is made up of people being built up in the Lord.

The building however is where the church assembles together. It’s where the family of God – the church – gathers weekly and is a place wherein the body of believers are equipped to go out and share the truth of the gospel. It is where they are being taught the Word of God, where they gather for fellowship, to pray together, and to love on one another by ministering to each other the gifts that God has given to each one. It’s a place to grow and mature so that they can go out and fulfill what we believe is the mission of the church. The church building can be looked at as one big “living room” where the church gathers to learn how to live.

In August of 2013, God opened an opportunity for us to purchase a property with over 12,000 square feet of “living room” space. This space will open up opportunities for our families to grow together in a space more conducive for our fellowship. With that being said, although we were able to purchase the property, there’s a lot of work that needs to be done before we can begin utilizing the space. We are estimating the cost to complete the renovations to be between $260k-$300k. We managed to save $100k to be used for the renovation but we still need an additional $160k-$200k to be able to complete the project.

To assist us in raising the remaining capital needed for the renovations, we signed a contract with Semble. Semble has been assisting churches and other nonprofit organizations to find financial solutions since 2007.

By working with Semble, we will be able to create an opportunity for church members and other interested individuals, to loan the capital needed for the renovation project and receive a return on their investment. With the assistance of Semble, Calvary Chapel West Jacksonville has created an investment opportunity we call, “The Living Room Project.” For more information about Semble and the investment opportunity click here.
